Ok, this is a must do if you have a Bluetooth adaptor, a Wiimote and a few spare moments. By following this tutorial (if you use Ubuntu or its derivatives, like Linux Mint) you can have it set up in a few moments! In other new I’ve decided to use the Elementary theme (Easy install instructions here). So far I find it’s fantastic! It looks good and has features like Gloobus Previews, which I find quite helpful. I’ve moded it a bit (screenshots and possibly a vid coming soon) and I’m thinking of changing to Elementary OS when it’s released! BTW sorry for the infrequent posts, I have been spending too much time playing LoZ!
Recently I’ve considered a change of web browser. I’ve been using Firefox since I was about 6 or 7 with Firefox 1, however recently I’ve been quite discontent with it recently what with crashes, bookmarks corrupted and slow(ish) loading times. As I’m a Linux user and have a brain IE, was out of the question, I disagree with opera over privacy (opera unite is just a ticking time bomb). So the only option left was Chrome, I went for the open source version Chromium. As I found it quite hard to choose between Firefox & Chrome I decided to write a comparison between the two, which was not done with fresh installs. All of the tests are done on my laptop with Ubuntu Lucid Lynx, each browser has multiple bookmarks, plugins and extensions. I’m also going to write about how it imports your existing data, etc.
Well here is the promised review of my new toy! This is my first review, so please tell me anything I can improve on. I’ll be splitting the review into various sub-headings, so if you just want the bare facts scroll down to the Overall section at the bottom.
I haven’t really got much to say today, I’ve got back from Brecon and am absolutely exhausted! Tomorrow I’m planing on writing a review of my new MP4 player (see last post for details!) which will be a mega-large post compared to my others. BTW I managed to update the firmware (I “borrowed” my dad’s windows PC – the last one in the house – for awhile) and I love the Sudoku game! Anyway what do you think of the fonts I’ve chosen for the blog (If your thinking what fonts?, then you should update your browser stat!)? I’ve also finally moved away from Firefox as my main browser to Chrome (to be exact Chromium) and am just keeping Firefox for dev purposes (got to love Firefly)!
Anyway keep you eyes peeled for tomorrows review, I may even get around to doing a review on Chrome!
This week I’ve had exams (well strictly speaking they where from Wednesday onwards to Friday), which has made it hard to blog. Then to celebrate my exams being over (and the fact I had a half-term holiday!) I went away to Brecon for a few days (already Twitpiced one shot). I had quite enjoyed myself up until the Monday (actually I found out on Tuesday night). My MP4 player – a Sumvision ICE 2000 – had somehow managed to get a large crack in its touch-screen, and to make it worse I only got it in April!Read the rest of this entry »
